A couple weeks back I entered to win 6 fat eighths from Bloomerie Fabrics. I won! The catch…
- Each bundle includes 6 fat eighths, shown above. You must use each fabric in your project, but you do not have to use all of each one.
- You can add 1 more solid or blender fabric from your own stash. You can; you don’t have to.
- We want to see what you make, so you have to blog about it and post pictures of what you make. {Think of this as the runway show, so to speak.}
- You’ll have until March 3, 2012 to complete your challenge and post about it on your blog.
Soon after I got the fabric in the mail. I looked through my pinterest board for inspiration on what to do with the fat eighths. I settled on the spiderweb quilt block. I used a tutorial by House of A La Mode. The tutorial is the best I have found on this block, very clear and many photos.
I cut all the fat eighths into strips 1.5-2 inches, but then reserving 2.5 inches of each for the back and binding.
I got half way through the project and then the basement/sewing room turned into this….
My parents and the hubby and I got to work on our basement remodel. That space will be my official sewing room, and where I stood to take the picture and behind me will be another family room/ toy room.
This morning I finally go to finish my project! Here is my table topper…
The back I used a couple stripes of white and the rest of the fabric scraps I had left over from the spiderweb.
The spiderweb block was a little hard than I expected. Things just didn’t want to match up. I think I will try it again for a Halloween quilt, and maybe on a bigger scale.
Thanks Bloomerie! I had fun with this challenge!
Coming soon… Pettiskirt for Sonya’s Birthday. I am going to be up to my eyeballs in nylon : )
